Mangalore, Jan 31: Kariyappa Poojary (55), a pedestrian, who was hit by a tempo after the driver of the vehicle lost control over the vehicle on Saturday January 29, died in a hospital on Sunday. He was the son of the late Eshwar Poojary from Sastanagar in Cheloor village. The accident had occurred near Boliyaruguttu House.
A tempo that was moving from Boliyar towards Melkar had swerved suddenly and hit Kariyappa Poojary, who was walking towards Mudipu. He was critically injured. Poojary was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Deralakatte, where he breathed his last on Sunday.
A case of reckless driving has been registered against tempo driver, Abdul Salam, at Konaje police station, in this connection.
