Mel Gibson Once Wanted to Kill Himself

London, Feb 3 (IANS): Actor Mel Gibson, who is currently in a custody battle with singer Oksana Grigorieva over their child, wanted to end his life when he was arrested in 2006.

The actor, 55, had just split from wife Robyn Moore when he was arrested in California on suspicion of drink driving.

"He felt he'd absolutely failed as a human being. I don't think this was being anti-Semitic. I think he was trying to rile that guy into shooting him," thesun.co.uk quoted Gibson's friend as saying.

Gibson's "Lethal Weapon" co-star Danny Glover, 64, also defended him, claiming "he is not the way he has been characterised".
