Abu Dhabi, Feb 4: Youngsters - Nakre and Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha won the KCO Rolling Trophies for Men’s Volley Ball and Ladies throw ball tournament respectively held at Abu Dhabi Indian School Grounds on Friday 04, 2011.
The second edition of KCO Volley Ball and Ladies Throwball Tournament generated overwhelming response from all over UAE. Both tournaments were played in true sportsmen spirit with exciting finishes and were a visual treat to watch for the large number of spectators present.

The teams were divided into pools and matches were played on league basis. The pools were drawn on the spot in the presence of the team captains. All Rules were explained and players were briefed prior to commencement of the tournament.
The tournament commenced at 9 a.m. with a brief inaugural ceremony, which was attended by several dignitaries. Richard D’Souza a prominent Mangalorean holding an important post in the Abu Dhabi Finance Department and Treasurer of Abu Dhabi Indian School was the Chief Guest along with Ronald Pinto & Dorothy Pinto of Hysna.Leo Rodrigues, Lavina Rodrigues, Fr. Anthony Lopez, Sarvotham Shetty, Richard Castelino, Fr. Lewis of Manipal, Walter D’Almeida, Michael D’Silva, Officials of Indian Social and cultural centre, Abu Dhabi and others
Fr. Antony Lopez spiritual director of KCO invoked God’s blessings on the days proceedings. After the oath taking ceremony by the participants, Richard D’Souza released white balloons as a symbol of peace declaring the tournament open.
Both the tournaments had their highs and lows, each team competing with each other vigorously to gain a place in the finals.
In the Volley Ball Tournament the semi finals were played between Youngsters Nakre and Star One and the second semi final was played among Ace Spikers with Safia Chilley Willey, and eventually Ace Spikers and Youngsters Nakre reached finals.
An exciting breathtaking final was played and Youngsters Nakre ultimately won the KCO Volley ball trophy for the second time.
In the Ladies Throwball Tournament the first semi finals were played between KCO – Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha and Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha made it to the finals and in the second semifinals Jashan – Dubai played against Mangalore Konkans ultimately Mangalore Konkans made it to the finals with great display of their skill and experience.
The final was played with nail biting finishes. both teams extending the play over two hours and Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha finally won the thrilling finals grabbing the KCO Throwball trophy. Finally Mangalore Konkans who were undefeated since past several tournaments in UAE had to concede defeat.
Trophies were awarded to the winning and runners up teams after the tournament during a brief concluding ceremony.

As usual the tournament was well organized and ably conducted under the leadership of Gerald D’Mello and his dedicated Members giving him required support, which was evident through their discipline and co-ordination.
