Udupi: II PUC exams - High drama by hijab protesters, MLA calls for case against two students

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Apr 22: MLA Raghupati Bhat expressed anguish over the behaviour of two Muslim girl students and applicants to the high court over the hijab controversy, who entered the college took the examination hall ticket and created drama near the examination hall.

Bhat said, “Now it is very clear that this whole controversy of hijab is a plot. We had called the protesting students on the evening of Thursday and asked them to collect the hall ticket for the examinations. They did not arrive to collect the hall tickets till the morning of Friday. They arrived at 9.30 am. Principal of the college said that he will give the hall ticket only if they remove their hijab and come to the office. They removed the hijab, collected the hall ticket. Then both of them went into the examination centre and created drama there,” he said.

The MLA continued,“I have spoken to the district administration and police department. If they do the same drama on Saturday, I have asked to register a case of contempt of court against them and take legal action.”

“Are these people playing games? They are not innocent but petitioners in high court. Superme Court judges have also confirmed that there is no connection between hijab and examinations. Disciplinary action should be taken against the two students. Legal case should be registered against them. They have not attended the classes. How they will write the exams? They will not write the examinations even if we allow them to wear hijab. Their aim is to spoil the environment in the college. Creating disturbance in society is their motto,” he thundered.

The MLA said, “If the two students repeat the same drama on Saturday as they did on Friday, we will not tolerate. They are not above high court. We will slap a criminal case against them. They are hooligans who have been let loose on the streets. They do not want examination. Because of them other students are not able to concentrate on their exams. Many parents of other students have called me. They are questioning as to why we are not putting restrictions on the protesting students?

“Other students get tensed when they see the police and the media near the examination centre. No one is bothered about the other students. The protesting students are doing all this to get media attention. Now we will take legal action against them,” Bhat said.

“So far we were saying that organisations are behind these protesters. I thought these girls are innocent and misled by anti-social organizations. Don’t their parents have simple common sense? If tomorrow the members of anti-social organisations will ask these girls to become terrorists and to hold guns, will they listen to them? Will they agree to be human bombs? They speak in English. Don’t they know Kannada?,” Raghupathi Bhat questioned.

Meanwhile, Yashpal Suvarna, vice president of college development committee of the Government PU College for Girls, expressed rage at the attitude of two girl students who left the examination centre for not allowing to wear hijab while writing the examination.

Suvarna said, “There is a possibility that hijab will be banned not only in college but in public places also. In European countries also the issue has already cropped up. We, who are thinking of a Hindu nation, should do this ahead of France so that we will be sending a good message to the world.

“The students were behaving like members of terrorist organisations earlier also. If they have grown up to this level, some religious blind forces are behind them. Today they have tried to mislead poor students in the examination centre. Officials have followed the government guidelines,” he said.

“The two protesters have the intention of destroying the education system. Why they had to come to the examination hall when they knew that hijab will not be allowed? They want other students also to get deprived of the education like them. Their behaviour clearly shows that they are not students but members of terrorist organization,” he said.

If they were serious of their education they would have attended the classes and exams. as per HC order. However thier priority is religion so so we should not pay attention to them. It is frustrating for other students have to suffer since they cannot concentrate due to media and security around the college.

Let me quote Honorable MLA in toto - "The protesting students are doing all this to get media attention". Hence the solution to the problem lies in the hands of the govt, judiciary & the law keeping forces - "just ban the jokara fame dombarata media covering this dwelling & developing matter in public domain",

"Sending good message to the world" Suvarna says. You are like frog in the well. Whole world know what you are. Go and read on international media what they are saying about it. BJP has totally ruined the good image India and Indians had and in some places Indians get assaulted because of good image you have created.

Can you name a country where Indians were assaulted for reasons of hijab or any other religious issue? So far only in Ukraine there were a few minor cases of attacks on Indians for not supporting their country in war against Russia, which is political reason.
