Udupi: ‘Hijab protesters trying to project India as offender’ - Shobha Karandlaje

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS/JD/HB)

Udupi, Apr 23: Responding to the tweet of Hijab protesters, union minister Shobha Karandlaje on Saturday April 23 said, “The Hijab protesters are trying to project India as an offender in front of the world community. We wish all to live harmoniously. Just take into account the plight of Hindus and minorities who left India. They do not even get one square meal a day.

“There is no unity there. India is providing food, education and medical facilities to all its citizens. This is the message we are giving to the world,” he she said.

With regards to the recent communal violence in Hubballi, Shobha said, “In Hubballi and Shivamogga, police stations have been attacked and police personnel were also not spared. This shows their careless attitude. They are showing what they will do if their population increases in India. They have challenged the police system itself. A systematic plot is hatched to create violence. Stringent punishment should be given to the hooligans.”

Replying to a query on Hijab protesters of Udupi not writing second PU exams, Shobha said, “The high court has given clear decision in this regard. They have asked even the education department of Karnataka to wear uniform. Still, they are supporting wearing of Hijab. They are violating the law of the land. They do not respect government, police and system of democracy. This is their mental state.

“We expect the girls involved in this controversy to earn respect, education and live an independent life. Just for the sake of media attention, they took the hall ticket but did not write the examination. They want to project that India is not giving Muslims their due. They are also showing support to some other terrorist organization. This is not right,” she said.

It may be recalled, on Friday, Aliya Assadi, the petitioner in the hijab row had tweeted after she was denied permission to write exams wearing hijab.

Aliya had stated, "Today I and Resham were denied from appearing for exams wearing hijab. Again and again we face disappointment. Raghupati Bhat had threatened us with criminal cases against us if we go to attend exams tomorrow. What's the crime here? Where is our country headed to!

Three Hijab petitioners absent on second day of II PU examinations

The second day of second PU examinations began in a peaceful manner in the district.

From April 22, science stream examinations have begun all over the state. All the six girl students, who have filed a petition seeking permission to wear Hijab in classroom, are absent.

Almas, Hajra and Ayesha did not appear for the mathematics examination on Saturday April 23. Almas reportedly took the hall ticket on Friday, but did not attend the exam on Saturday. Both Hajra and Ayesha have not even collected the hall tickets, informed sources.

Exams on the second day have started in a systematic manner.

All problems start where Muslims are ghettoized in one place. (not necessarily because of increased population as per Shobakka) colonization of one particular community leads to suspicion and misunderstanding, whereas mixed community colonies have no violence where they support ,respect and protect each other.
