Mangalore, Feb 14: Addressing the youth belonging to Gowda Saraswat Brahim (GSB) community at the GSB Youth Convention held in the city on Sunday February 13, junior swamiji of Kashi Mutt, Sri Samyameendra, advised the younger generation to follow the principles of righteousness and culture in their lives steadfastly. The convention, in which over 1,000 young members of the community participated, was organized by Lord Venkataramana Temple in Car Street here.
“The young children should grow into the strong future pillars of the community. For this to happen, it is the duty of everyone to impart refinement, religious principles, customs and traditions of the community to them. The GSB community in general, comprises of people who are knowledgeable and intelligent. This is so because of the fact that our elders preached and practiced religion and culture. Of late, there has been a dearth of these things among the young generation and the elders alike. Conventions like this can effectively become a tool for guiding and awakening the youth towards the right direction,” the Swamiji felt in his benedictory address. He also recollected the services rendered by towering personalities from the community like Ammembal Subraya Pai, Dr T M A Pai and others, to the society.
Dinesh Kamath of Akhil Bharat Samskara Bharati, urged the GSB community to conserve their rich traditions that are thousands of years old, and to preserve the recognition they have earned, of being intelligent people. Chempi Srikant Bhat felt that a section of the community suffers from problems because of lack of knowledge, not visiting temples and prayer centres including the Swamijis and seats of their religion regularly, not bowing before their parents, not performing the practices which are prescribed as per religion, and not growing spiritually.
Sandhya Shenoy from Udupi spoke about life values. M N Pai and Mahesh Nayak dwelt on the subject of the art of communication and public speaking. Kumble Narasimha Prabhu, Jagannath Kamath, Narendra Nayak, J S Shenoy, A G Pai, and G G Mohanadas Prabhu participated in the session on career guidance.
Managing trustee of the temple, C L Shenoy, welcomed. Pandit Narasimha Acharya delivered introductory address. Corporation Bank general manager, B R Bhat, Canara Chamber of Commerce and Industry president, G G Mohanadas Prabhu, Veera Venkatesha Charitable Trust secretary, T Ganapati Pai, Kumble Narasimha Prabhu, and several other dignitaries were present.
