Mangalore: All India Course Coordinators Meeting Held at M V Shetty College

Mangalore, Feb 16: ‘All India Course Coordinators Meeting’ was held at Dr M V Shetty College of Speech and Hearing here on Wednesday February 16.
The dignitaries at the meeting were welcomed on behalf of the Rehabilitation Council of India and Dr M V Shetty College of Speech and Hearing. This was followed by lamp lighting ceremony by the dignitaries.
Dr T A Subba Rao, principle of Dr M V Shetty College of Speech and Hearing, welcomed the gathering, followed by speech delivered by Dr JP Singh, member secretary of Rehabilitation Council of India.
Major general (retired) Ian Cardozo highlighted on the issues that will be discussed in the next three days and also on few current issues. He discussed on three important aspects of a good professional in the rehabilitation area: Dedication, commitment and the love for the persons who is disabled.
He mentioned few points not only on intervention, but also on prevention of disability. As there are many imperfections in the present PWD act of 1995, new disability act will be introduced for which there is need of support from all citizens, the rehabilitation professionals in particular.
Capt Ganesh Karnik congratulated all speech and hearing professionals. The present education system is giving importance to information and skills but not for values. The purpose of education is enlightenment which leads to leadership and true professionalism, he said.
Dr M R Shetty presided and requested Capt Ganesh Karnik, MLC of DK to put forth the need of job opportunities for speech and language pathologists and audiologists’ graduates in India.
Dr S K Mishra, deputy director of RCI delivered the vote of thanks. The dignitaries were felicitated on the occasion.
