Bangalore, Feb 22: Stepping up the fight against former chief minister and state JD(S) president H D Kumaraswamy in the trading of charges and counter charges, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yedddyurappa’s political secretary B J Puttaswamy has alleged that the former had allotted 10 “G” category sites to his eight relatives, including his mother in-law and his personal assistant (PA), in Bangalore in 2007.
Puttaswamy, who has been frequently leveling allegations against the JD(S) supremo H D Devegowda and his sons H D Kumaraswamy and H D Revanna in retaliation against their attacks against his boss Yeddyurappa, alleged that Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has allotted sites following Kumaraswamy’s recommendation during his tenure as Chief Minister in the Janata Dal (S)-BJP coalition government.
The State JD(S) chief, who has been demanding the resignation of Yeddyurappa over nepotism in land allotment, had himself favoured his relatives by alloting prime housing sites in Bangalore, Puttaswamy alleged.
A site measuring 50 x 80ft had been allotted to S Vimala, mother-in-law of Kumaraswamy in HSR Layout. Though Ms Vimala has own a house at J P Nagar in the city, she secured the site by declaring a false affidavit to the BDA, he claimed.
While B Y Raghavendra, Shimoga MP and son of Chief Minister, returned his site, the mother-in-law of Kumaraswamy was still in possession of the plot, the BJP leader claimed.
He wanted to know the criteria for Kumaraswamy’s allotment of site to Ms Vimala. ``How can Kumaraswamy or any JD(S) leader level allegations against Yeddyurappa? What moral right do they have?,” he asked.
Similarly, housing sites had been allotted to seven other relatives of Kumaraswamy, the BJP leader said disclosing that they were Radhamma, H Vishwanath, Anantha Rama Gowda, Rajashekar (two sites), M K Sudha, N R Lokesh, K Saraswathi and Rathnakar, PA.
Kumaraswamy allotted all “G” category sites to his relatives and indulged in nepotism, the BJP leader alleged.
Stating that he would urged the BDA to order an inquiry and take steps to take back sites allotted by the former Chief Minister to his “blood relatives,” Puttaswamy said both JD (S) leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah “have lost mental balance and indulged in loose talk”.
He pointed out that Yeddyurappa had not been indicted by any legal authority in allotments of lands and land denotifications and demanded the resignation of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman K Rahman Khan for his alleged role in the misuse of funds of the Amanth Cooperative Bank Limited.
Khan had been indicted and a FIR had been registered. He said steps would be taken to recover Rs. 54.77 crore from the family of Khan, Puttaswamy said.
