Kundapur: One arrested for chain snatching

Kundapur, May 17: Rural police of the taluk arrested one person on the accusation of snatching golden chain from a woman’s neck.

The accused arrested is identified Tilak Kumar M.

According to the details of the incident, Paddamma Shedti (72), was walking on the road at Nadubettu of Kalavara village on April 29 at around 12.10 pm. A bike borne man stopped near the woman and asked for Ramanna’s house. As the woman was saying she does not know, he snatched the golden chain of two sovereigns on her neck and sped off on the bike.

A case in this connection was filed by Ashok Shetty, son of Paddamma Shedti. The value of the golden chain is said to be Rs 75,000.

Kundapur police swung into action and arrested accused Tilak Kumar on May 14. The accused confessed to the crime during interrogation and said that he had done chain snatching as he was in financial crisis.

The team which carried out the operation included PSI Niranjan Gowda, PSI Suhas R, Probationary PSI Kundapur rural police station Nutan D, staff of crime department of KUndapur rural station Raju, Nagesh, Anil Kumar, Chidananda, Dinesh and Shivananda.
