Mangalore: ‘Sunset India’, its His Way of Creating Green Awareness

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (VA)

Mangalore, Feb 24: With the prime intention of creating awareness about environment among youth Jeeth Milan Roche has planned for a unique DJ evening- Sunset India presented by Radiation Events at Panamboor Beach here on Saturday February 26.

The event will commence at 4.00 pm. The evening promises fun and wholesome entertainment with DJ Ivan, DJ Prachiey and VJ Blaque on the shore. It is a fund raising event for tree planting initiative.

Speaking to Daijiworld the passionate man behind the event, Jeeth said, “Organizing a DJ was one of the best ways I could think of to build that much needed alertness about environment among youth. If the younger generation realize the importance of growing trees it would be easier to spread the message”.

A resident of Morgan's Gate, each year, Jeeth plants numerous saplings in public places including the side of the road, on barren government land, and on the free space by the side of the railway tracks. He has made his own efforts to keep the city green. Whenever he finds barren land where a plant can grow, he digs up a spot with his pick-axe and plants a shrub in the hope of seeing a greener environment in the future.

Jeeth is the son of Vincent Roche and has his father’s support every inch of the way. With his mother hailing from a family of agriculturalists, the work of planting comes easily to Jeeth. His son Shan Ethan is his dedicated helper.

A senior executive in a private company called First Indian Corporation; Jeeth adds that the company was also impressed with his work for the environment as it creates awareness among its staff.

Most of the saplings which Jeeth had planted on roadside were uprooted for widening the roads and other purposes. Hence he chose to plant on vacant plots, near ponds, in church grounds and in cemeteries where they would grow without any disturbance.

Jeeth is mainly concerned about the damage of trees and plants in some areas which has turned them into dry lands. So with the entertaining event he has made his attempt to attract the youth and create environmental awareness.

Every seed sown and every sapling planted will sprout slowly and steadily and will keep the land green and clean. As and when any road expansion or construction taking place, saplinags or trees can always be transplanted elsewhere thru the help of modern devices. When you fly over India, it is fascinating to watch so much of greenery all around. More and more water reservoirs and water preservation centers have to be created in order to preserve the rainy water howsoever possble. Water will always remain to be a precious commodity.

Eventually, our able planners and leaders also need to invest money for waste water recycling projects so that the recycled water can be utilized for lots of greenery thru sprinkler system and road tankers.

When we visit India we often spend some time at the local nurseries and are fascinated with so many new breeds of fruit trees and garden plants that are available at resasonable prices. Keeping our towns and cities green and clean with good landscpaing system is an industry that has lot of benefit for our communities. Many plants and trees provide flowers and fruits that are needed for our daily needs. We also visit the flower shops and feel impressed with the variety of flowers nowadsys available for weddings, funerals, churches and homes. India's growing population has every need for plants, trees, fruits and vegetables.
