Mangalore, Feb 26: If you visit Orchid Art Gallery located at Balmatta from Friday February 25 to Saturday March 5 you will get to savour the beauty of acrylic on canvas by Ronald Pinto who is an emerging artist. Hailing from Puttur, he has turned out to be an experimental package as he has worked by experimenting with other mixed media besides mere acrylic.
The Arabs, view of the villages, decorated camels, a camel struggling in the storm, pearl and the sea, Arab men tasting a cup of black tea, evening melody of the desert, feminine self looking outside through the window with an array of emotions, have all been depicted in vivid colors on canvas by Ronald.
“For some drawings, I might have taken 20 days, while for others I would have taken just 3 days”, he said. In some pictures, he managed to draw the brown color surface with a piece of cloth while in others he did it with white texture and water colours.
''More of his paintings seemed realistic than contemporary. It is perennial need for an artist to recognize his surroundings to fulfill in his works when he works on realistic art than contemporary art'', said Clifford D’Souza, who himself is an graphic artist of the city who was present at the formal inauguration ceremony of Ronald’s painting exhibition ‘Me, Sunrise, and Desert’ held at Orchid Art Gallery on Friday February 25.
Siraj Ahmed, chairman, Inland Infrastructure Developers Pvt. Ltd, lit the lamp. William Pais, director, Orchid Art Gallery, was present on the occasion.
Those present relished the series of as many as 20 paintings by Ronald which reflect the life in a desert country. The searching mind of Ronald, who was in Bahrain, ventures out to explore the life beyond modern life. The art works created by him are the results of his enquiring mind. He goes beyond the comfort of everyday life in the tiny portion of the desert, to the interiors of the desert and succeeds in grasping the essence of desert life.
Weather conditions, traditional Arab architecture, the old towns, the golden glow of the sun set, have all been rendered in a romantic tone, which we are otherwise tuned to think as dry and devoid of any life.
