Mangalore: Vishwas Trust Celebrates Festival of the Elderly with Ardour

Mangalore, Feb 26: The grand finale of the ‘Festival of the Elderly’ organized by Vishwas Trust was held at the School of Social Work auditorium, Roshni Nilaya on Friday February 25.
The programme began with a prayer dance by the MSW Students. Shameem Kunil was the chief guest for the occasion. Other dignitaries present on the dais were Dr Olinda Pereira, director Vishwas Trust, Dr Jacinta D’Souza principal of School of Social Work, Ratna Pinto, Dr Derek Lobo, Evelyn Bennis trustees of Vishwas Trust.
Letitia Fernandes, member of Bejai Centre welcomed the gathering. Jacinta Machado, social worker gave a brief account of the festival month for the Elderly. Felcy Pinto, secretary, Vishwas Trust introduced the chief guest Shameem Kunil.
The chief guest awarded the certificates to the winners of the competition which was held during the Festival month for the Elderly. She addressed the senior citizens, congratulated all the winners and applauded the Vishwas Trust for its efforts in reaching out to the elderly.
Cultural programmes were organized by the MSW students. The special attraction was the Manipuri dance performed by a student Catherine. This was followed by spot games which added colour to the event. Refreshments were served
Merilyne Margaret, administrative, assistant of Vishwas Trust was the masterof ceremony. Jessie Baretto, member of Valencia Day Centre proposed the Vote of Thanks. A good number of elderly, friends and well -wishers attended the programme.
