Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, May 30: The police have arrested eight out of the 12 accused students of a private college in the city for allegedly attempting to murder a youth of the same institute over some issue that occurred during a cultural programme in the campus.

According to a complaint filed by Shabab K (21), a native of Kerala now residing at Flat no 001, Hill Crest Apartment in Chilimbi in the city, 12 youths barged into his apartment on the night of May 28 with lethal weapons. Afreesh, one of the accused, abused the complainant and also threatened him with life. Another accused, Sheikh Mohiuddin swung the wicket in his hand in a bid to hit the head of the complainant. However, the complainant was rescued as his friend Shibil pulled him aside. Other gang members urged accused Afreesh and Mohiuddin to beat complainant Shahab.

College management is responsible for such problems created by their students in the society. These rowdy elements from Kerala are not coming to Mangalore to study but to show their bad culture. I pity for the parents of such thugs. Give first preference to our students and then offer remaining seats to ONLY deserving students. As long as educational institutions are run as a business , this kind of activities will continue.

If you go to any institute in mangalore now, you see 70% Keralites and rest localites only. Even after knowing so many crimes and problems are done by these Keralites, why can’t education institutes keep a max limit on how many Keralites are to be allowed in a university?

Colleges should be held accountable for the students they are admitting. Now they are admitting all kinds of loafers and rowdies because they are greedy for money. The common people are suffering because these kind of students are bringing crimes to Mangalore.

80 percent admission in Mangalore and Udupi colleges through agents. If locals go to colleges and ask for seats then there are no seats available.
