Udupi, Jun 1: On the celebrations of the first day at Brahmakalashotsava of the renovated Sri Mahishamaedini temple, Kadiyali, CM Bommai paid a visit to the temple on Wednesday June 1.

The CM launched the ‘Suttu pauli’ of the temple and the rotating roof, carved out of wood. Revenue minister R Ashok, water resource minister Govinda Karajola, Kannada and Culture minister S Sunil Kumar, the district in-charge S Angara, Backward Class and Social Welfare department minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLA Raghupati Bhat, MLA Sukumar Shetty, Byndoor MLA Lalaji Mendon, Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde and others were present.

Special prayers were offered for the welfare of the entire state. Bommai sought the blessings of Goddess Mahishamardini. He was honoured by the temple priest. The CM was marvelled at the unique rotating roof and appreciated the beautiful wooden carvings on the temple roof from the entrance.

The temple renovation committee handed a request letter to the CM with the request to release an additional fund of Rs 5 crore. The temple had been renovated at a cost of Rs 8 crore.

The Brahmakalashotsava ritual of the Kadiyali temple has begun from today and it would continue until June 10. The temple happens to be one of the oldest in Udupi, whose history dates back to more than 1,200 years. The temple was renovated in ‘Taulava’ (Tulu empire) style.

The temple renovation committee members Nadoja Dr G Shankar, honourary president, Brhamakalashotsava Committee, Dr Raviraj V Acharya, president of management committee Nagesh Hegde, president of renovation committee P Purushottam Shetty, president of Brahmakalashotsava committee Ganesh Rao, treasurer K Ragahvendra Kini, general secretary of renovation committee K Nityanand Kamath, general secretary of Brhamakalashotsava committee Kunjittaya rinivas Upadhyaya, Pavithrapani of the temple and others were present.
