Mangaluru: 7 arrested for illegal transportation of red sanders

Mangaluru, June 2: Officials of the forest department have arrested seven people while illegally transporting the red sanders worth Rs 4.15 crore in Kenchana Kere of Kilpadi village of Mangaluru taluk. Officials seized 315 logs of red sanders from the possession of the accused on June 1 at 6 pm.

Those arrested are Alady Rajesh Reddy, Anil Kumar, Pal Raj, Dinesh Kumar, Kunhi Mohammed, Anil Kumar, and Shameer S. It is gathered that one of the accused has gone absconding during the raid.

Officials have seized red sanders while the accused were transporting in a truck number with registration number AP 39TX9976. They have also seized a Mahendra Marazzo vehicle with the registration number TN 18AT6027 which was escorting the truck.
