Mangaluru: 32-year-old Merwyn Pinto seriously injured in hit-and-run accident

Mangaluru, Jun 3: A 32-year-old man suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run accident at Padil on Thursday June 2 night.

The injured is identified as Merwyn Pinto from Meremajal Farangipete. He was on his two-wheeler riding from Derebail to Farangipete to his residence. On the way at Padil, a speeding car knocked Merwyn down from his two wheeler. He was thrown to the road.

The car then stopped meters away from the accident spot. Three people alighted from the car and went near Merwyn to check him. Looking at his injuries, the trio escaped from the spot without helping Merwyn.

Locals then shifted Merwyn to a private hospital in Kannur. He is said to be out of danger.

A complaint has been filed at Nagori police station.

    The padil - BC road strech unscientific national highway filled with potholes all the way to toll gate is the most dangerous highway in entire D.K. it's not even proper 4 lane with minimum width on both sides. trailer trucks , tankers , Govt buses , crazy motorbike racers with loud exhaust are a big menace on this route a very dangerous road till BC road.several accidents have happened on this strech there are atleast two accident in a month.. ride / drive with extreme caution.

    The highway is dangerous even after paying a toll of Rs. 60/-, there are no street lights and in the dark cannot notice the divider. The reflectors on the divider are useless. At least paint the dividers so that the riders and drivers notice the divider.
