Kundapur: Decomposed mortal remains of man found – Murder suspected

Kundapur, Jun 10: Decomposed mortal remains of a man, who went missing three days ago, were found at Naikanakatte of Keragalu village near NH 66.

The deceased is identified as Manjunatha Devadiga (38). He had gone from home on June 6 saying that he is leaving for work. When he did not return that day till night, his family members called him but he did not receive the call. A complaint in this regard was filed on June 8 at Byndoor police station.

On June 9, it came to light that the decomposed body of a man was lying near Naikanakatte on NH 66. The family members of Manjunatha identified that it is indeed the missing person.

According to locals where the body of Manjunatha Naika was found, the mortal remains were not there at the spot as there is a pedestrian walk lane just by the side of it. There are houses and farmlands and people tie their cattle for grazing. There is movement of public all the time. Locals say that they would have known if the body was lying on the spot from June 6. Public and the family members suspect that deceased Manjunatha was murdered somewhere else and his body was thrown after decomposition at the spot where it was found.

Manjunatha was working as a trumpeter and daily wage labourer. He is survived by wife and two children.

When Manjunatha went missing three days ago, family members sought divine help from Daiva. The deity promised that he is within the limits of the deity’s area and will be seen in two days. People are lauding the prophecy of Daiva.

Byndoor police personnel visited the spot and are investigating further.
