Kadaba: Public toilet locked due to foul smell within months after inauguration

Daijiworld Media Network – Kadaba (MS)

Kadaba, Jun 11: It seems that the toilets that are built under the Swachh Bharat idea are done only for name sake and not maintained once they are inaugurated. The public toilet that was built in order to provide facility for tourists at Gundya under Shiradi gram panchayat limits is locked within months of inauguration due to unbearable foul smell.

Near Gundya junction on NH 75, seven toilets and four bathrooms were built in order to provide toilet and wash facility to tourists going to and coming from Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Dharmasthala and Subrahmanya. Inauguration of the same was done in December 2021.

The maintenance of the toilet was handed over to Janaseva Foundation of Hassan. Though this toilet facility does not lack any water supply, the toilet pit that is built is small in size. For the same reason the water used in the toilet overflows from the pit and gives foul odour all around.

Public is cursing the Shiradi gram panchayat for not maintaining the toilet that is so vital for passengers going to several places as Gundya is a junction place. They have urged the panchayat to take immediate action and rectify the issue.

Responding to the outcry of the public, Vineeta, president of Shiradi gram panchayat said, “The toilet is locked as some issue is noticed in the pit of the toilet. I do not have more information. I will speak to the PDO and do the needful.”

I will call somebody Namo only if he can change the dirty stinking infectious public toilets into clean, hygienic and infection proof and no stink.... we heard cleanliness, shochalai shochalai, one man carrying broom for photo op... so many slogans on cleanliness but absolutely no change.... all public toilets should be under Health department's direct supervision and not at the mercy of street thugs / extortionists who want to make money out of this very essential facility to general public... any foreigner if he uses our public toilet once will know what we are worth as a country....

most public toilets in India are unofficially captured by UP, Bihar, KL migrants.... they take 2 or 3 rupees for urinals whereas Urinals are supposed to be free...recently I came across a public toilet caretaker in Hebri bus stand, harassing the public... he charges 3 rupees for using the urinals.. as per my assessment is a bangladeshi illegal...

If they are maintaining the toilets then charging Rs. 3 is peanuts. For Rs. 3 you don't even get peppermint now a days. Please don't cry and pay and use the public toilets.

For seven toilets and four bathrooms toilet pit was too small ??? That too for so many passengers as per the news articles say ? This pit is done on commission basis. Commission earned much bigger than pit. Disgusting....over that panchayat head doesn't have information....Shame...How come these people win in elections?? Even god doesn't show pity on the people.....Everywhere injustice is going on....Is god there ?
