Udupi, Jun 13: Tense atmosphere prevails at Kanchinadka Minchinabavi near Padubidri over the construction and removal of a Guligana Katte at Kordabbu Daivastana.
The Guligana Katte was constructed on the night of Sunday, June 12. Local men and women of other community vehemently objected the overnight construction. Though the Hindu organizations said that it cannot be removed, members of pro-Muslim organizations said that it is newly built. Many people gathered at the spot.
Padubidri police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Recently, two Muslim families had unconditionally withdrawn the objection petition that was submitted to Padubidri gram panchayat. In the wake of this, on Sunday, a pandal with tin sheets was put up in public place itself. During night, the Guligana Katte was built and it created controversy.
The Guligana Katte was removed in the presence of police. Though the situation is under control, tension still continues in the area.
