M’luru: Sunil Kumar to convene meeting with state-level officers to speed up works

Mangaluru, June 13: District in-charge minister V Sunil Kumar on Monday, June 13 said that with the intention of speeding up the works taken up by the Mangaluru City Corporation and to address various problems, a meeting with state-level officers will be convened on June 23 or 24.

After holding a meeting with representatives and officers at MCC Hall on Monday, June 13, he said, the work which has being taken up is lacking because of poor cooperation between the departments. To correct this a state-level officers' meeting will be convened.

Officials of KUIDFC, Jalasiri, Gail and other officials will be attending the meeting.

“The funds granted by the government should be utilised in a proper way. People are suffering because ongoing work is done very slowly," he said.

Sunil Kumar also said that he will visit those places where developmental work is going on. The flaws and errors in the works will be corrected soon.

Grants of 15th finance commission and Mahatma Gandhi Vikas Yojana has reached MCC. To effectively implement this, the present work should be completed, the minister said.

Sunil Kumar also suggested officials to get ready to face monsoon and make arrangements so that water conveniently flows into the drainage.

The minister ordered finishing works of Kankanady, Kadri and Surthkal markets and to inaugurate them in December. The 600 houses constructed in Idya of Surathkal should be handed over to eligible beneficiaries, he said.

MLA Y Bharath Shetty also spoke during the occasion.
