Mangaluru, Jun 16: Jagadish Shenava, spokesperson, BJP Dakshina Kannada, in a press meet held at Press Club, Mangaluru condemned the protests held by the Congress party workers amidst National Herald case.
The press meet was held to oppose the ongoing clashes which erupted within the Congress workers, resulting in chaos and unsettled tensions across the country. Shenava said, “The Congress party has been lately playing all these tantrums. It is totally unacceptable. Law is superior to any person and they are questionable before it. In future, even if the home minister or the prime minister himself is summoned before law, he will have to appear before it. Equality before law is the very principle of our country.
“The Congress’ protests have been observed as undermining the supreme principle of equality and that any protests or retaliation would do nothing to affect the decision of the government.
“These acts are not driven with the motive of attracting the officials’ attention at the national level. Why are they making a big fuss out of the resultant response of the protests? Dragged across and getting injured is all evident during protests. They have hyped it up by naming it as manhandling. These are frequent occurrences where one gets injured during protests. It is not different,” he said.
In response to the press meet held by Congress MLA U T Khader earlier, he said that the latter has spoken great heights about the Gandhians and how they played a pivotal role towards shaping our country. “They have only been striving to gain power. It is very similar to the earlier times, when the kings would hand over the throne to their heirs,” Shenava opined.
Further he said that the BJP strictly opposes such tactics and that the guilty must appear for further investigation.
“People have humiliated them and this time, they will not fall for these gimmicks,” he said.
BJP leaders Ravishankar Mirjar, Jaishankar and others were present.
