Udupi, Jun 18: A complaint is filed against a youth in Padubidri police station on the accusation of seeking sexual favours from a woman. The youth is said to have misunderstood the emoji of currency notes with a ‘thumbs up’ sign.

Nikesh (27), a resident of Kanchinadka is the accused in this case. It is stated that he threatened with life to a woman of north Karnataka origin, as he got enraged by the negative answer given by the woman.

All the confusion was created due to the misreading of the emoji message sent to a coolie worker woman of Kanchinadka area.

The accused had sent the picture of an Rs 500 currency note to the daily wage labourer woman. The woman, who is native of Hanagal taluk sent a 'thumbs up' emoji asking the meaning of the Rs 500 currency note image sent by Nikesh. The accused thought that the woman is interested in him and called her up on phone. When the accused was conversing with the woman, someone who was near to the woman, grabbed the phone and spoke.

Enraged at the behaviour of the woman, accused Nikesh waylaid her and also threatened her with dire consequences if she approaches the police.

Padubidri police are investigating further.
