Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jun 21: Villagers objected to the land survey at Kollur Devarabenny near Kinnigoli in order for acquiring land for developing Balkunje industrial zone and the team of KIADB officials had to go back without conducting survey. This incident occurred on Monday June 20.

More than 30 villagers objected to the survey and said that they will not give land for the project and did not allow them to do the survey.

The villagers questioned the urgency of land survey as the process of filing objections to the notice of KIADB for acquiring land is still on.

Gram panchayat vice president Ananda, former president Dinesh Puthran, Denis D’Souza of protest committee, Dr Freeda Rodrigues, Devadas Mallya, Vincent, Yellappa Salian and Aithappa Salian were present.

Why don't these people go & acquire land outside Udupi & dk. There r so many barren lands in northern Karnataka. This is a big scam.

One does not have to look further than Ganjimutt Industrial Area to understand the hoodwinking that is going on. Dozens and dozens of industrial plots are empty. These are probably bought years back and left for the value to appreciate. If KIADB takes these back, and I'm sure the clauses in sale support these, and allot to interested parties to setup the factory in an year. The need for new acquisitions would not arise.

The irony part of so educated...? employees in KIADB that they want to take possession of the flourished agriculture land there by disturbing the people and their livelihood. Let them grab the barren land and construct the industry over there. No one will object or protest. Why they want to pollute the healthy ecosystem? People and animals already suffering due the NTPC power project. Local MLA/MP's doesn't come to your rescue because they have vested interest in the project. They are useless fit for nothing.

Time for people to take back the power to let their lands for industrialization of agricultural lands instead of infertile barren lands. KIADB needs to be divested of its power to acquire agricultural lands. Food is more important than any industries that can be established in infertile lands while people can't cultivate in other barren lands without water & fertile soils. People need to pressurize their MLA & MP s to stop these corrupt agencies from getting land & gifting it to crony capitalists for a pittance who never provide any employment to locals & employ very little people as mechanization has dealt a blow to employment prospectus. Food is primary need & shouldn't be an invitation for sharks in real estate mafia through KIADB. Later denotification corruption takes place instead of any industrial establishment.

good move..seems now the athi buddivanthas of dk district are getting to know that they are being taken for ride by bluejp from all ends.....toll gates which are against the law and industries that pollute are pushed to this distirct because people are considered buzdil.....so this is the only way....either retaliate or succumb...

The new Land Acquisition Act is applicable from Jan 1 2014. At least twice the MARKET value ( not guidance value) including solatium has to be paid.If they demand this in writing government will not acquire as the amount will be huge. Near the place where we live all united, wrote letters individually and the process was canceled. Let there be development, no problem, but let the authorities pay for it, it is our money being returned to us, there can't be a free lunch....
