Udupi, June 21: In the midst of heavy downpour in the city, the Udupi Block Congress Committee members staged a protest supporting the KPCC at the Martyrs’ Memorial Ground, Ajjarkad against "misuse of ED" by filing a "false case" against Rahul Gandhi and condemning harassment of Congress leaders by the police.
Sudhir Kumar Murolli addressing the protesters said, “The BJP, RSS workers and its other organisation members have gone to jail after the independence. Only Congress leaders have gone to jail during pre-independence. Conducting ED probes is a way of threatening them and making them back out from all the upcoming election activities. What has been ED doing for the past 8 years? Is that used as a weapon to suppress opposition leaders?," he questioned.
He further said, "When Modi came to power, four Supreme Court judges openly stated that they were not able to deliver duty independently."
"We do not want power to rule India, but BJP does the same. BJP district offices are bigger than Congress in all parts of the country. There are many common people who became rich by earning huge amounts of money after the BJP government came into rule. Why does the BJP government not take any action against them?," he questioned.
"BJP is insulting Kuvempu, Shankaracharya, Kanakadasa, Tippu Sultan. Congress follows the principles of Narayana Guru. One should not hesitate to tell the truth. But BJP opposes secularism, humanity, sacrifice and that's why, BJP hates them," he added.
Ramesh Kanchan, president, Udupi Block Congress Committee said, "The current BJP-led government keeps on harassing the Gandhi family through ED probe. If anyone has courage to touch them, you will know the results. The entire India will get burn. The public of Karnataka is expressing its outrage against the BJP government price hike on fuel, gas cylinder and so on. The people of India will teach the right lesson to BJP."
