Customs officers seize gold worth Rs 18.95 lac from ladies undergarment at Mangaluru airport

Mangaluru, June 23: The officials of the customs department at Mangaluru International Airport seized gold which was being smuggled by a male passenger on Wednesday, June 22.

The passenger had arrived from Dubai by Spicejet flight no SG60. The passenger hailed from Bhatkal.

The 24-carat gold weighing 364.500 grams valued at Rs 18,95,400 was seized from the passenger.

He had tried to smuggle gold in the paste form packed in a paper and plastic packet which was concealed inside the stiched pocket of ladies undergarment carried in a carton box. A rectangular bar of gold was extracted from the paste form.
