Body in Suitcase: Victim Resembles Delhi Man's Sister

Mumbai, Mar 17 (TOI): A day after a young woman's body was found inside a suitcase at Sandhurst Road station, the GRP has been informed about a Delhi resident whose runaway sister resembles the victim.

The Delhi police told the GRP that a missing complaint had been registered at the Vasant Kunj police station in December 2010 by one Manoj. On Tuesday, Manoj happened to see photographs of the murder victim on TV channels; she apparently bears a close resemblance to his sister. He immediately got in touch with the Vasant Kunj police station and will soon leave for Mumbai.

Manoj told the Delhi police that his sister was in a relationship with a youth. He, too, went missing in December. The police suspect that the two eloped and moved to Mumbai. "Whether Manoj's sister and the victim are the same woman can only be confirmed when he personally comes down and identifies her," said senior inspector A M Jadhav.

Officials have learnt that the victim was four months pregnant. Post-mortem reports have shown up the presence of alcohol in her stomach. "One of the possibilities is that the assailant forced her to have liquor and killed her. He may not have wanted news about the pregnancy to leak," the official said.

A DNA test is likely to be carried out. Meanwhile, officials have traced a worker from Madanpura who had fitted wheels and a label on the green suitcase.

Cops have ruled out any similarities between this case and the one at Santa Cruz, where another woman's body was found in a suitcase six days ago. "They are unrelated and there is no serial killer involved," DCP Ashok Deshbratar said.
