Udupi: 8-yr-old Case Solved with SP’s Special Squad Nabbing Notorious Burglar

Udupi, Mar 17: Personnel of superintendent of police's special squad led by deputy SP Jayant V Shetty arrested a hardcore burglar settled in Kerala who was involved in several burglaries in the district for the past eight years.
The arrested has been identified as 55-year-old Tangaraju Alias Ramesh. Tangaraju alias Ramesh is of Tamil Nadu origin and settled in Kanhangad, Kerala, after his marriage.
The policemen investigating a recent burglary case that took place in the neighbourhood of Brahmavar, here referred the fingerprints of a thief related to a case at Bhatkal police station, which matched the finger prints of Tangaraj, but he gave his false name as Ramesh. Tangaraju was staying in a lodge for many years in the city, who would pose as a dignified person during the day and would go about identifying locked houses that he would burgle after midnight. He would come back to his lodge and go to Kanhangad along with the booty and return to cit after a week. It was his routine for the past eight years, informed police sources.
The police recovered 350 grams of jewellery and gold ingots, silver ornaments of nearly 8 kilo grams, altogether worth Rs 11 lac.
The operation was carried out under the direction of acting SP M V Venkateshappa. ASI Sheena Billava, head constables Sridar Nambiar and Ravichandra, constables Suresh Shetty, Krishna Prasad, Santhosh Kundar, Fayaz, Sudhir, Taniya, Chandra Shetty, Ramu Hegde, assistant head constables Sudhakar and T Mahabaleshwar were involved in the operation.
