Mangaluru, Jun 30: Heavy rains have been lashing in the district of Dakshina Kannada for the past two days including the city of Mangaluru. Some private educational institutions have declared holiday on Thursday, June 30.

The route from Adyar to Kannur in city was blocked due to water-logging and people were seen pushing their two-wheeler through the submerged roads. Water also gushed into premises of a private hospital in Kannur.

The road from Mangaluru to Moodbidri is completely submerged in water causing a traffic jam. The commuters were having a time moving past the national highway near Kulshekar. Traffic was completely disrupted from Kudupu to Shakthinagar and people were found stranded for more than an hour, when reports last came in. Rain fury has been reported from Kottara Chowki and several other localities in the city.

Schools instructed to ensure children's safety

Deputy commissioner Dr K V Rajendra said, “As heavy rains are lashing the district, continuous monitoring is done to avoid any damage or loss of life. If students have arrived to school, the schools are instructed to carry on with the classes. In areas where it is not possible for students to reach school, holiday is declared."

“Officers of educational department are instructed to take care of the safety of children who have already arrived at various schools. Tahsildars and zonal educational officers are directed to take a decision on declaring holiday based on the situation of respective taluks," he said.

“The meteorological department has announced orange alert on Thursday. If the rains continue on Friday too in the same manner, decision will be taken to declare a holiday for schools after assessing the situation,” he added.

ITs rainy season,Heartbraeaking to see water is everywhere on roads and staying. But not flowing into gutters Do we have gutters?Did someone cleaned them before rainy season begann ?MCC has to see that work is done before rain beginns .Or let the water flow to sides.so that buses and vehicles passon fluently.Children can walk safely.Even electric poles should be controlled ,trees etc.But we know ,have to take our cross self on shoulders.Misery of our country.Of course cows are safe in goshals but not children.

Our Meteorology department predict rain hevy or moderate for whole rainy season (June-Sept). But not alert prior to one day. Many children and parents suffered today morning. Still they are worried about return safely to home. Why the District admiration not declared yesterday itself? Meteorology department not warned about todays situation? As usual since ages namma Districted Parbog shaale Paadyog raje. Holiday after the rain / flood reduced.

No use of blaming MCC, MLA, MP, OR ADMINISTRATION , because voters are now recieved the results of their mistake done while voting, our MCC is very active only when they go out for rides on footpath vendors. Very active. We need educated and literate representatives,
