Udupi: Container topples on house in Parkala, blind curve posing threat to commuters

Daijiworld Media Network-Udupi (JD)

Udupi, July 3: In a major mishap that occurred on the late night of Sunday, July 3 a container lorry toppled on a roadside house here in Parkala.

As road widening and concrete work on NH 169 are in process in this part, the container driver failed to notice the sudden curve due to which he lost control on his vehicle and toppled upon the roadside house. Fortunately the house was vacated and no one lives there at the moment. The container driver escaped unhurt.

The container was carrying scrap papers from Parkala to Goa. Due to the sudden curve on Parkala-Manipal road, the risk of accidents is high. Lack of proper street light here is also adding to the risk for motorists in Parkala.
