London, March 22 (IANS) Actor Eddie Murphy will be honoured with Comedy Icon for his performances in stand-up, sketches and film at the first ever Comedy Awards.
"Eddie Murphy's impact in the world of comedy is immeasurable," said Casey Patterson, an executive producer at MTV Networks Entertainment Group.
"From the characters he created on 'SNL,' to his ground-breaking stand-up performances and unforgettable film roles, Murphy changed the game forever and we're honoured that he will be joining us for the first-ever Comedy Awards."
The show will take place Saturday, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
In his three decades long career, Murphy, 49, has done memorable comedy roles in "Beverly Hills Cop", "Coming To America" and "The Nutty Professor".
