Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru, Jul 9: The heavy downpour in the last two weeks has put everyone in distress. Roads in Mangaluru have submerged and many houses have collapsed.

Jayanthi and her family are in distress after their house collapsed on one side and are living out of fear. Jayanthi lives with her husband Manoj and a child who is studying in 5th standard. Their house is located at Devanda Gudde, Marakada.

On Friday July 8 night, one side of the house collapsed and the rest is on the verge of collapsing. Jayanthi and her family stayed at their neighbour’s house last night as they feared that the house might collapse anytime while they were asleep as the house is quite old and is made out of mud.

Manoj works as a helper with a mason and he has been jobless for a month now. His wife is unable to go to work due to health issues. The family is not in a position to renovate their house due to their economic condition. The family is living out of fear due to the condition of the house.

Really sorry state. We feel for this family and want to help . But since they are Hindus will it be considered Allurement under the new law? Now we have to check on that before we help. We never made any difference when it came to helping earlier, it was purely irrespective of religion. But now we have to think about that because of the new laws of the government. Any help financial or material given free can be considered as allurement for conversion.

How do we help them? Please share details. Also, please petition the DC. Under his spend, he can allocate at least three to four lakhs. Plus, this is a Hindu couple, please do think that the administration may arrest for helping, saying we are trying to convert them. Let's donate anonymously instead. With the present Hindutva stuff, one must be extremely careful.

Time has come to pay attention to our surroundings and extend help each other for the survival. Don't expect a bit commitment from this bhikari sarkar anymore. We never know the aggregation of economic crises we gonna face in coming days.
