Mangaluru, Jul 13: A day after state minister of school education and literacy B C Nagesh ordered the inclusion of the lesson on social reformer Shree Narayana Guru in the new social science textbook of Class 10, Congress leader Mithun Rai demanded state ministers Kota Srinivas Poojary, Sunil Kumar and Dakshina Kannada district BJP president Sudarshan Moodabidri to apologise to the people.

Addressing a press meet at Congress Bhavan at Mallikatta here, Mithun Rai said, "Two ministers and the BJP district president Sudarshan Moodbidri for spreading lies claiming that Narayana Guru's chapter was not removed from the social science textbook of class 10th. After various organisations and Congress protested against the removal of Narayana Guru's chapter, the government ordered for the inclusion of Narayana Guru's chapter in class 10th social science textbook. If these BJP leaders have morality, they should apologise to the public for misleading the people of the undivided districts and hurting their emotional sentiments."

He also congratulated various Billawa organisations who strived to include Narayana Guru's chapter in the textbook by protesting. "Their protests today have yielded a good result," said Mithun.

After minister B C Nagesh ordered the inclusion of the lesson on social reformer Shree Narayana Guru in the new social science textbook of Class 10, the real face of the BJP is exposed.

He also slammed the BJP government for initially dropping Kayyar Kinhanna Rai's chapter from the textbook.

He also said that chief minister Basavaraj Bommai had failed to visit the places of sea erosion in the Mulki-Moodbidri constituency. "People are facing problems there. The government is ignoring the Mulki-Moodbidri constituency," he added.

Corporaters Praveen Chandra Alva, Anil Kumar, Prakash Salian, Naveen D'Souza and Nazeer Bajal were present in the press meet.
