Kundapur, Jul 16: A bus got into a two feet deep pothole filled with water as a result of which the driver of the vehicle lost control and drove the bus on the road divider for more than 300 meters before coming to a halt. This incident occurred at Koravadi Cross near Kumbhasi on Saturday.

A private bus that was plying from Mumbai to Mangaluru is the one which fell into the deep pothole. As the bus was travelling at a high speed, the driver lost control and went on the divider for around 300 meters. Presence of mind of the driver prevented the bus from tilting and falling on one side.

The bus is now stationed on the divider in front of Kannukere Masjid. More than 40 passengers were in the bus. All had a providential escape. No injuries were reported.

I really wonder what is this toll collected for maintaining the highway used for? Is there no respite from this loot?? How long can the people suffer and tolerate this lawlessness??

Road from kulur to baikampady is filled with such deep potholes . Commuting in my car everyday I see 2 wheeler people doin all sort of acrobatics in heavy rain. Just wondering why do officials intervene and just sort out pothole issues. Pathetic state of governance is what I have to say.. big tenders get floated and after that rest remains history ..

Very fortunate that the bus didn't topple; these interstate buses run at high speeds and how would a driver suspect an unmarked deep pothole on the national highway; what was the maintenance staff of NHAI doing??
