Mangalore: Businessman’s Largesse - Lady Goschen in for Thorough Revamp

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Mar 31: “The state government has given its nod for constructing a new building to house Lady Goschen Hospital in the city with the help of a donor. An Andhra Pradesh businessman, Raghavan Naidu, has come forward to construct a new building measuring 1.50 lac square feet at a cost of Rs 18 crore and hand it over to the government. The new building will come up adjacent to the present building,” said deputy speaker of the state assembly, N Yogish Bhat, in a release.

He noted that efforts had been going on since the last many years to upgrade Lady Gosechen Hospital and improve the facilities there apart from renovating the building. These efforts have now borne fruits, he said. He also added that M/s K S Keerti Foundation will begin works on the new building by the end of this April, and the government has requested the donor to complete the building within a year. “The hospital building will be built by Raghavan Naidu in memory of his only daughter, the late K R Keerti, and the government has agreed to name the new building after her,” he explained.

Bhat said he has expressed gratefulness on behalf of the people of the region to Naidu for donating Rs 18 crore in the form of hospital building and modern amenities.

For Health reasons instead of putting of new bldg in city area it should have been shifted somewhere greener area. Future pollution should have been taken into account. God bless the doner.

Yes it is true that citizens of Mangalore will be grateful to Mr. Naidu.

Don't you all think it is shame on the government to take donation from individuals to provide health care to its citizen.
    What happens to government money?
    Why government abdicates its responsibility?

Mr. Naidu our Yediyurappa has many such crores. Why waste your money?

Why do we need donation Mr. Dy Speaker????? Have we come to a stage where we need to look forward for donars to upgrade our hospitals and banks and business houses to maintain our roads????
We have enough and more money as salaries, perks for legislature members and parlimentarians. The amount spent on the travel arrangments of some of the ministers is so substantial that we can have 10 such hospitals in our town. Why does any district incharge minister need a pilot car and a escort car with a gun man? Is the threat perception so high??? No it is a status symbol.
Very soon you will need to ask help from our neighbours to guard our country coz we will not have the funds for the defence forces.
What have you done with the tax i paid???
