Udupi: Renovated Kannangar Jumma Masjid Inaugural on Apr 7

Udupi, Apr 1: “The reconstructed building of Kannangar Jumma Masjid will be inaugurated on Thursday April 7,” said Masjid committee president H B Mohammed.
“Kannangar Masjid is one of the largest and unique mosques in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district and has been reconstructed at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore. It can accommodate over 5,000 people for prayer at a time. It has a history of nearly 750 years and the greatest number of Muslim families in Udupi district, besides Ullal in Dakshina Kannada district. The Jamat that manages the Masjid has 750 families and seven Madrasas under its administration,” he added.
Programmes:
Tajul Ulema Abdul Rehman Kunhi Koya Tangal will inaugurate the renovated Masjid at 11.00 am on Thursday April 7.
Udupi district Kazi P M Ibrahim Musliar will preside over the programme. Kamarul Ulaima A P Abubakker Musliar, Mangalore Kazi Twaka Ahmed Musliar will deliver the keynote address on the occasion.
The free food will be offered after the stage programme.
The Burda Majlis programme will be held at 9.00 pm on Thursday by Puhaduddin Sakhafi Fartawi and group.
Uroos from April 8 to 16:
The Uroos that has been held once in three years by Shaikuna Sirajuddin will be held from Friday April 8 to Saturday April 16. The religious programmes will be held at 9.00 pm throughout the Uroos. The concluding ceremony will be held on the evening of Saturday April 16.
The Masjid committee secretary Abdul Aziz Hejamady, Uroos committee secretary Fakruddin, Masjid committee members Abdul Hameed, T M Bawa, B K Mohammed, Ibrahim Khalil, Karim Bawa, Hanif Haji, Mohammed, and Mohammed Haneef were present at the press meet.
