Patna, April 8 (IANS) Hundreds of workers of the Communist Party of India-Marxist Leninist (CPI-ML) Friday went on a day-long fast to extend support to social reformer Anna Hazare's anti-corruption campaign and "expose the loot of public exchequer in Bihar".
"The CPI-ML has decided to launch an agitation to expose the loot of public exchequer and Nitish Kumar government's move to suppress the irregularities of hundreds of crores in the state," CPI-ML state secretary Nand Kishore Prasad told IANS.
CPI-ML leader Dhirendra Jha said the party will expose Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's double talk on corruption.
"Nitish Kumar has extended support to Anna Hazare's anti-corruption campaign to gain popularity, but he is silent on serious corruption charges in his government," Jha said.
The CPI-ML leaders alleged that the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report has revealed irregularities of Rs.15,000 crore in the state.
Jha said that last year, the CAG had revealed the biggest-ever scam in Bihar with a report of "irregularities of Rs.11,412 crore, but Nitish Kumar managed to bury it".
"The CPI-ML will not sit silent, it will garner support for a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) probe into it," he said.
Prasad said the party will support Anna Hazare's anti-corruption campaign by taking it to every village across the state.
The CPI-ML made it clear that its day-long fast was also to extend support to Anna Hazare's fast-unto-death to press for a more stringent anti-graft law.
