Moodbidri, April 9: Scores of job aspirants gathered at Vidyagiri campus of Alva’s College for the mega job fair ‘Alva’s Pragathi – 2011’here on Saturday April 9, yet there was no room for chaos as to whom they had to approach for interview.
Everything was well organized in a systematic manner. At counters located right in front of the college building, students had to fill the registration forms first, and then could easily find the company’s where they would fit. The names of those firms, the floors and room numbers in which the interview would be held were mentioned on a display board.
Separate counters for commerce, science and arts among other specializations helped in the smooth functioning of the mega campus drive.
Speaking at the formal inaugural function, Dr Mohan Alva said that this step taken by the Alvas Education Foundation is cause driven; hence no registration fee is collected from the companies or from the students. On the same occasion he also showed his whim towards attracting international companies in the future placement drives to be organized in the same campus.
Padmashree Dr B R Shetty, chief guest, inaugurated. Alvas Education Foundation chairman Dr Mohan Alva, UAE Exchange CEO Sudhir Shetty, former minister Amarnath Shetty, Jayashree Amarnath Shetty, MLA Abhayachandra Jain among others were present.
On the first day of this unique three- day campus placement drive companies specialized in various sectors like Banking, Medical, Engineering, BPO, KPO, IT, hospital, fabrics, Insurance and Automobile Sales among others made their presence to cater to the job needs of many students.
Recruitment teams from Wockhardt, Apollo, J P Morgan, UAE Exchange, Infosys, Kotak Mahindra, Axis Bank, Biocon, MCF and Taj among other prestigious companies have landed at Alva’s campus to enrich their human resource by selecting the right candidates.
In all150 companies will participate in the job fair. More than 4,000 employment seekers will get jobs through the drive. The campus interview drive will go on till Monday April 11. Daijiworld.com is the official media partner of the event.
