Yeddy in Mangalore: 'Time to Wipe Out Corruption'

Mangalore, Apr 9: Chief minister B S Yeddyurappa who was in the city on a brief visit en route to Kumble in Kasargod, said that it is time to get rid of corruption in the country.
He was addressing media persons at Mangalore airport here on Saturday April 9. He was on a day-long visit to Kasargod to participate in a couple of programmes.
Yeddyurappa, himself embroiled in land scams and allegations of corruption and nepotism, hailed the Jan Lokpal bill and appealed to the Prime Minister to call a meeting of CMs of all states to discuss the matter.
He asserted that the Jan Lokpal bill is necessary to ensure transperancy in administration and added that such a legislation was the need of the hour. The bill has come at the right time and will enable the eradication of corruption, he said.
The CM had expressed his support for the bill on Friday April 8 in Bangalore also, saying that corruption was a major hindrance for development, and holding the opposition responsible for charges against him.
He was escorted by district in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar, mayor Praveen Anchan, deputy mayor Geetha Nayak, deputy commissioner Subodh Yadav, SP Labhu Ram and other officials of the police department and the MCC.
