Mangaluru, Aug 10: The new Mangala Magnus artificial turf playground was inaugurated at the premises of Mangala Group of Institutes, Neermarga here on Wednesday, August 10.

Opposition leader in the legislative assembly U T Khader formally inaugurated the ground. President of the Mangala Group of Institutes, Dr Ganapathi P presided over the programme.

The turf ground was prepared using modern technology with an intention of encouraging sports among youth, particularly students. Special lights have been installed to facilitate playing at night. It is designed in such a manner that natural breeze can flow uninterruptedly.

The ground with an area of 9,000 sq ft has a restroom and other facilities. Nets have been installed around and also at the top of the ground to prevent inconvenience to people travelling on the road. Grass has been laid on the ground to prevent injuries to sportspersons. This apart, there is a vast place for parking. The ground is suitable for playing cricket, football, basketball, volleyball and hockey, said president of the organization, Dr Ganapathi.

“The Independence Day Cup 2022 football tournament will be held here after the inauguration,” informed the college management committee.
