Mangaluru, Aug 11: ADGP law and order Alok Kumar on Thursday August 11, revealed more details about the Praveen Nettaru murder case. 

Addressing media, he said, “Three more have been arrested in the murder case. They were arrested at Talapady check post at 8 am today. The three are Shiab (33) who supplies cocoa to a private factory, Riyaz (27) who supplies chicken, and Basher (29) who works in a hotel. All accused hail from Sullia. Initial questioning has been completed. We will seek for further police custody. 

“We need to investigate deeper to know the reason behind Praveen’s murder and also to get information on those who harboured the accused.

“The investigation team under SP Rishikesh Sonawane cracked the case. Suitable reward will be given to the team. Even Hassan SP Hariram Shankar and other officials helped in probing the case. Most probably, we will hand over the case to the NIA in another 3 to 4 days. 

“From the very beginning, we had suspected the killers’ links with PFI and SDPI. We need to collect evidence and establish whether the accused are connected to PFI and SDPI. 

“Arrested accused Shafiq’s father Ibrahim had worked in Praveen’s shop for three months. Shafiq knew Praveen very well. 

“The assailants were hiding at a mosque in Bekal after the murder. Five two wheelers and one car was used in the crime. The vehicles are yet to be seized,” he said. 

Referring Sharath Madivala murder case, where the accused is absconding and is living in the Middle East, the ADGP said, “We had planned to seize the properties of Praveen murder case accused who were absconding. But now, they are caught. Henceforth, in any other major case, we will to issue warrant and then proceed to seize their properties if the accused are absconding.”

Puttur: Praveen Nettaru murder case - Three main accused arrested

Puttur, Aug 11: It is reported that three main accused are arrested in connection with BJP youth leader Praveen Nettaru murder case.

Police sources said that Shiab, Basheer and Riyaz are the arrested. Two are natives of Sullia and one from Puttur.

According to information, the accused are being taken from Sullia to Mangaluru.

One of the accused is resident of Ankatadka of Puttur while two others are residents of Elimale and Bellare in Sullia.

More details are awaited at the press conference that the police are going to hold later in the day.

With the arrest of the three accused, the number of arrested has gone up to 10.
