Rains Bring Reprieve, Lightning Claims Five Lives in State

Bangalore, Apr 11: The weather seems to have started playing hide and seek. While the last few days were unbearably hot, light rains accompanied by thunder hit the state on Sunday April 10, and even claimed five lives.
Coastal and other parts of the state witnessed unusual and sudden changes in the weather. However, the rising mercury levels had given an indication of imminent rainfall.
According to reports reaching daijiworld, there has been light to heavy rainfall in a few districts in the state. The heavy lightning killed three people in north Karnataka and two in Shimoga.
Lightning and rain were also reported in Gadag, Bagalkot, Bijapur, Sindagi and other places of north Karnataka.
Udupi experienced moderate rains, while in Mangalore there was thunder accompanied by drizzle in a few areas.
Puttur too recorded rainfall, and locals say the region gets moderate rains every year between April 10 and 19.
After days of scorching weather, the rains provided a welcome reprieve in many parts of the state.
