Dubai: Little Artists Display Talent at Emirates Pangalites’ Drawing Contest

Dubai, Apr 11: Emirates Pangalites, an association of Pangalites/Shankerpura natives residing in UAE, organized a drawing competition for children on on Friday April 8 at Kids Talent Centre, Karama, Dubai.
The main objective of this contest was to create awareness about the changing environment of the world as well as discovering and displaying the hidden talents of children and motivating budding artists to blossom.
The association is marking its 8th anniversary and was started with the objective of supporting social causes either in their hometown or in UAE. The contest saw enthusiastic response from children and parents alike.
The programme was hosted by young comperes Diksha D’Mello and Dean Castelino. Association president Vinay Vaz along with advisor Michael Castelino welcomed the chief guest Joseph Mathias of Merit Freight LLC.
Mathias conveyed his best wishes to Emirates Pangalites by writing a note on the inaugural drawing sheet set on the wall.
The children were divided into three categories on the basis of age—4-6, 7-9, and 10-12. The topics given to them were outline coloring, ‘Save the Earth’, and ‘Cultural Heritage of UAE’, respectively with an allotted time of two hours.
The three judges—Rinky Duragoa, Suman Bhatt, and Madhusudhan PK—evaluated the entries with professionalism and experience.
The prize distribution ceremony had guest of honor Richard Castelino and chief guest Joseph Mathias. A short review was presented by Suman Bhatt, one of the judges, who said that the children with their artistic skill were highly competitive and encouraged them in their future endeavours.
All the participants were awarded with a certificate, exclusive goodie bags courtesy Strategic Food International Co. LLC (Britannia) and Francis Mascarenhas together with surprise free entry passes to the Dubai Dolphinarium at Creek Park.
There were first, second, and third prizes in each category as well as two consolation prizes each. The first three prizes comprised of cash of Ds 500, Dhs 300, and Dhs 200, along with individual trophies and winner’s certificates.
The prizes were presented by Richard Castelino, Madhusudhan PK (head of art, epartment Melody Makers and Fine Art Centre, Dubai), and Joseph Mathias.
Tokens of appreciation were forwarded by treasurer Joel Quadros and president Vinay Vaz to all those who made this day possible.
