Mangalore: Ramnavami Festivities Begin - 60 ft Ravana Effigy Up in Flames on Apr 13

Mangalore, Apr 11: Good number of devotees was seen at the inauguration of Sri Ramotsava organized by Sri Ramotsava Samiti, in association with Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal.
The event was observed in a grand manner at the Nehru Maidan here on Monday April 11. This will continue for another three-days. The uniqueness of the event this year is that all festivities and rituals will be held in a specially-erected palace for Lord Ram to be conclude with symbolic burning of a 60-feet tall effigy of demon king Ravana, made by artisans from Kolkata Wednesday on April 13.
All rituals would be carried out under the guidance of Vedic scholar Giridhar Bhat. Special poojas would be offered in the afternoon and at night and prasad will be distributed to the devotees on the venue.
With a view to instill the exemplary values Rama stood for in the younger generation and also to revive the long-pending plan for building the Ram temple at Ayodhya by statutory ways, this Ramotsava is held at every district centre.
Shri Ramadeva pratishte and religious meet was held on Monday. Kabaddi and other games will be held on Tuesday April 12 and Shri Shrinivas Kalyanotsava and religious meet followed by burning of Ravana effigy on the last day, Wednesday April 13.
