UAE: Dr Mavinakuli, Dr Na Daa Win Dhvani's Int'l Drama Award

Dubai, Apr 12: “Abhiyana”, a drama penned by Dr Jayaprakash Mavinakuli has bagged the “Silver Jubilee Dhvani International Drama Writing” contest conducted by Dhvani Pratisthana UAE as a part of its Silver Jubilee celebrations.
Dr Mavinakuli is a renowned writer and drama activist who has written more than 25 books and has been active in drama field over three decades. He is presently serving as professor in Bhuvanendra College, Karkala. The award includes Rs 25,000 and a citation of the services rendered.
“Sriranaga Ranga” award instituted by Dhvani Partishthana in memory of Late Sri Adya Rangacharya, a pioneer of Kannada Drama, presented every year to recognize great contributors in the field of Kannada Drama is being awarded this year to Dr Na Damodar Shetty. The award includes Rs 25,000and a citation.

Dr Naa Daa has been active in Kannada drama field for more than three decades. He has written a classic book on drama by name “Ranga Shodhane”. He has published more than 400 articles on Indian Drama and also more than 28 books in Kannada. Dr Naa Daa is a well known drama director and critic and has served as a member of Karnataka Nataka Academy as well as Karnataka Film Awards Committee. Dr Naa Daa retired as a professor in Kannada at St Aloysius College Mangalore. Dr Naa Daa has acted in films and TV as well. He has been a recipient of various awards including Nataka Academy awards.
Both the awards are being conferred on the recipients at Philadelphia School, Qusais, Dubai in the programme arranged on Friday April 29 at 3.00 pm by Dhvani Pratisthana.
The award presenting ceremony will be followed by Kannada Chutuku Sahitya Sammelana. Eminent poet Dundiraj will preside over the function. Srinivas Sriangam, NRI businessman will inaugurate the sammelana. Shobha Karandaje, minister for energy, Karnataka State, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Mangalore MP, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, cine actors Girija Lokesh and Tejaswini Prakash are the guests, announced the president of Dhvani Pratishthana, Prakash Rao Payyar.
The entry for the programme is free and Payyar has requested all Kannada loving people to attend the function in large numbers.
