Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 17: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, August 17, reported nine new coronavirus cases while six cases were registered in Udupi.
The total number of positive cases in the Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,36,460 out of which 65 are currently active. As many as 18 patients were discharged on August 17.
No deaths were reported on August 17. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,858.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authorities.
Positivity rate for the day stood at 1.30 percent.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,16,05,880 as fine in 96,212 incidents of mask violation.
Six coronavirus cases were reported on August 17. The total active Covid cases are 36.
A total of 10,90,261 people have received the first dose of vaccination and 10,83,965 have received both doses and 2,16,636 people have received booster doses.
Udupi taluk reported six cases.
