JD(S) Cheating Muslims with Bogus Agenda of Secularism: SDPI
Media Release
Bangalore, Apr 12: "JD(S) is a deceitful political party. Deve Gowda and his son Kumaraswamy are deceiving the people of Karnataka by making claims of secularism," said Abdul Majid Kodlipete, state president of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI).
He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the party’s state-level membership campaign held at Darussalam hall, Bangalore recently.
He said that the alienation of JD(S) from BJP while it was at the helm of affairs in the state was a clear indication of its fraudulent nature. "JD(S) is responsible for bringing BJP to power in the state," he asserted
He said when Kumaraswamy was the chief minister he had told journalists that he did not know the meaning of secularism. It was a tragedy to have such a man as the chief minister, he added.
He said that when JD(S)-BJP coalition was ruling the state, Kumaraswamy had proved his communal stance by alleging, in a meeting with the then Prime Minister, that madrassas in Karnataka were propagating terrorism.
"JD(S) leader Deve Gowda has often said that he wants to be a Muslim in his next birth. We do not want him. If he has real concern for Muslims let him prove it by granting tickets to 50 Muslims from his party in the next assembly elections," he said.
"JD(S) which claims to be a pro-Muslim party did not field a single Muslim in 40 constituencies of Hassan district in the last zilla panchayat elections. It is an evidence of the so-called 'secularism' of these people," he said.
He called upon the people to reject all such political parties.
State general secretaries Abdul Hannan and Afser Pasha, national executive committee member Dr Awad Sharif, state vice-president and BBMP corporator Prof Naznin Begum, secretaries Hemalatha and Siraj, district president Irfan Ibrahim and the office-bearers of Bangalore district committee were present.
