UAE: Dr Zita Lobo President of Newly-launched Spectrum Toastmasters Club

Ras Al Khaima (UAE), Apr 17: Spectrum Toastmasters Club, RAK - Medical and Health Sciences University (RAK-MHSU), UAE, was chartered on recently in RAK-MHSU auditorium.
Dr Zubair Hanslot, academic director, University of Bolton was the chief guest. Dr S Gurumadhva Rao, vice-chancellor of RAK-MHSU in his address to the gathering extolled the value of interpersonal communication in life.
Dr Zita lobo, former lecturer of St Agnes College, Mangalore and currently serving at RAK-MHSU was elected president of the newly-launched Toastmasters Club.
Dr Lobo explained the vision, mission and values of the club and said that in an educational institution a toastmasters club fosters effective teacher-student communication. With its core values of integrity, dedication to excellence, service to the members and respect for individual, Toastmasters International fosters world peace and understanding through its educational programmes.
Dr Chaitanya, vice-president, public relations, explained a typical meeting as the toastmaster of the day.
Sarangi area 74 governor, TMI and Sasi Kumar, division J governor, TMI, conducted the charter ceremony and distributed charter medals and certificates to members of the new club. Dr Beenish Zaki, vice-president, education, felicitated and proposed the vote of thanks to all who were instrumental in the club’s formation and functioning.
About Dr Zita Lobo
Dr Zita Lobo is an accomplished academician and a professional Toastmaster. She has done her PhD in English literature, and among her several awards is the Advanced Toastmaster Award (ATM-Silver) by Toastmasters International.
She has served in the capacity of chairperson, arts/sciences, Emirates College for Management and Information Technology, Dubai. She has also compiled the text book for grade 5 and 9 of English medium schools of Karnataka, published by the DSERT (Directorate of State Educational Research and Training), Karnataka.
She has been a member of several boards of studies, including the English department, Mangalore University and board of text book writers, department of Social and Educational Research in Text Books (DSERT), Bangalore, India.
Apart from these, she has been a member of several academic bodies, and has a number of articles, poems and other publications to her credit.
