Bellary: 30 Check Posts All Over Karnataka to Curb Illegal Mining

Bellary, Apr 18 (PTI) The Karnataka Mines and Geology department will set up 30 check posts all over the state from April 21 to curb illegal mining, officials said.

This follows the Supreme Court appointed Committee's recent findings on large-scale illegal mining in Bellary district, they said.

The check posts will examine iron ore permits issued by the mining department, tax receipts and quantity being transported from the mining regions of Bellary, Sandur and Hospet, they said.

Five vigilance groups have also been constituted to monitor iron ore transported to Karwar, Mangalore, Belekeri and Goa and Andhra Pradesh ports, they said.

Illigal mining is not done at those 30 Chck posts. Illigal Mining is done at mines. If government is serious about stopping illigal mining, shut those illigal mines in Bellary and around. Otherwise establishing these 30 check posts is nothing but eyewash.

30 check posts to curb illegal mining!!!! what a joke, illegal minimg is not done at check posts. Stop fooling the public with such statements. If the government want to stop illigal mining within karnataka, government should close those illigal mines. Allowing mines to function(because government does not have control on illigal mines and its owners) in order to keep the current ruling party in power is appears to be Yeddy's game plan. These check post is an eye wash to show that government is taking some action. Come on Yeddy, you cannot keep public fooling like this.

There is no end for illegal mining whichever Govt. may rule in Karanatak it will not end. As ex chief Minister Kumaraswamy said without fund political party can't run so without these kind of activities fund will not flow to parties account. God bless Karanataka.
