Best Fire Station Trophy for Mangalore Airport

Mangalore, Apr 19: The local airport has won the ‘Best Fire Station Trophy’ in southern zone.

This award is being given, based on the drill, preparedness of the personnel and their management, machinery and equipments, level of discipline, safety, standard of safety vehicles, and basic amenities being provided to the fire station personnel, said director of the airport, M R Vasudeva.

In the meanwhile, discordant notes have been heard about the award announced for these fire personnel, who toiled hard for several hours during the tragic air crash that occurred at the airport here on May 22, 2010. These fire personnel, it is learnt, have received commendation letters, which can be shown at the treasury for drawing Rs 100 (Rupees One Hundred only) sanctioned to them as reward for their sincere work during the said air crash.

It is gathered that the policemen who discharged their duties during the said crisis have been sanctioned between Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000.

    Really good work from Manglore Airport Fire station. They did a good job during last Air India Express accident. Reaching the burning aircraft was not so easy as there was no proper road in the jungle.
