Kundapur, Sep 9: “28 families have obtained sites, drinking water and roads due to the sincere work done by former deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis,” said special government convener Satish Kalavarkar.

He was speaking after naming the second ward of Kandavara – Sattadi as Priyanka Nagar. He said that Priyanka madam has become the voice of Dalits.

Udupi deputy commissioner Kurma Rao M unveiled the name board of Priyanka Nagar. Kandavara gram panchayat president Bobby inaugurated the drinking water and lighting programme.

Krishna Sattadi who campaigned to provide sites to 28 families was also felicitated.

Tahsildar Kiran Gorayya, Kandavara gram panchayat vice president Shobha, gram panchayat member Abhijith Kothari, Sheena Poojary, gram panchayat former member Santhosh Poojary, Mohan Chandra Kalavarkar, Manju Sattadi, Ishwar Sattadi, Ramu and others were present.

Chandra K welcomed, gave an introduction and rendered the vote of thanks. Ravindra J Balkur compered the programme.
